Week 6:
  —2/23/09: Monday, 6:00pm
  —2/25/09: Wednesday, 9:00am & 12:30pm

Hi everybody, As in previous weeks, you will find the files for this week's posting, week 6 of the 14-week spring term, below. In addition, you will find links to download the files for the previous five weeks, in case you missed some of those exercises. Please note, that you will have to do additional drawings for this week's homework. Also remember that next week the midterm project is due. That means that ALL OF THE WORK UP TO NEXT WEEK IS DUE, INCLUDING THE INTRO EXERCISES THAT WE DO AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS EACH WEEK. I think you all worked hard this week in class and did quite well drawing the white shapes. I'm actually very pleasantly surprised. However, I am concerned at how much work some of you have to do for next week. Remember, not only next week's homework is due, but EVERYTHING. Next week is MIDTERM, which means we are halfway through the semester. Therefore, everything that we have done up to now for classwork and homework will be due next week. Below is a list of exactly what you should have for me. Regarding homework for this week and the MIDTERM: please read ALL the instructions in the MS Word document as to what to do for next week's class. Have a nice weekend. Carter-

Week 5:
  —2/19/09: Thursday, 6:00pm
  —2/18/09: Wednesday, 9:00am & 12:30pm

Hi everybody,
Midterm Quiz Info
    This note is to inform you of two things:
  1. We are going to have a MIDTERM QUIZ in class next week over the keyboard shortcuts I have covered thus far.     As soon as I get my computer back I will post a study sheet, but until then you should study all the keyboard shortcuts for the following:
    1. the keyboard shortcuts for the tools in the toolbar that we have covered up to now, and;
    2. the following: open—apple-O; new—apple-N; save—apple-S; print—apple-P; undo—apple-Z; copy—apple-C; cut—apple-X; paste—apple-V; paste-in-front—apple-F;
  2. I will announce what you will need to have complete for the midterm project (due in 2 weeks) in our next class.
First, I apologize to my Wednesday class for not being in class this week; but I'd also like to say that I was VERY happy about the work that I saw in class Thursday evening. You all worked very hard and you did some nice work. The drawings that we did were not easy, but most of you ended up with some very nice things. Second, on the other hand, many of you have not done much homework and because of that I am worried about most of your grades. We have had 5 classes and 4 homeworks. Many of you have not even completed homework for any week at all. You know who you are, and you must get to work as it is piling up fast. Below you will see a box with the 5th week'sfiles and then below it, you will see a box with week 1, week 2, week 3 and week 4 files. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. Carter-

Week 4:
  —2/09/09: Monday, 6:00pm
  —2/11/09: Wednesday, 9:00am & 12:30pm

Hi everybody, Below you will see a box with the 4th week'sfiles and then below it, you will see a box with week 1 and week 2 and week 3 files. Please, please, please download the files at the links below and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY CAREFULLY. The drawings should take less time than you realize and should have less detail than you might expect. What we are concentrating on in these few drawings are the outlines and contours, NOT all the details you can see. If you find yourself with extra time, then you can come back and add more detail, but THIS IS NOT REQUIRED. I was VERY disappointed at how many of you did not do any homework; but hopefully by now, most of you have a pretty good idea how things are going to go in this class. Below you will see the links for this week, the classwork and the homework. For homework this week, like the previous 2 weeks, you will require 2 files. One file consists of the instructions of what you are supposed to do, and the other file is an Illustrator file which you will need in order to complete the computer exercise due next week. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. Carter-

Week 3:
  —2/02/09: Monday, 6:00pm
  —2/04/09: Wednesday, 9:00am & 12:30pm

Hi everybody, Below you will see a box with the 3rd week'sfiles and then below it, you will see a box with week 1 and week 2 files. Hopefully by now, most of you have a pretty good idea how things are going to go in this class. Below you will see the links for this week, the classwork and the homework. For homework this week, PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND DO NOT SIMPLY LOOK AT THE TITLE AND BEGIN. The instructions will tell you not only how to do the exercise, but WHAT TO CONCENTRATE ON. You should also notice how much time I recommend that you spend on the drawings. These are NOT meant to be long and painstaking drawings. You should simply focus on the EDGES AND CONTOURS. Do not agonize over the tiny details. We will do some drawings later on that take longer, these are meant to be relatively simple and quick. Of course, if you already have some drawing skill, I will expect more from you. This does not mean you should leave your drawing half done; instead, try to finish each drawing in the time given. And please, DO NOT TRY TO BE PERFECT. Like last week, you will require 2 files. One file consists of the instructions of what you are supposed to do, and the other file is an Illustrator file which you will need in order to complete the computer exercise due next week. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. Carter-
