WEEK 6 :
6/16/10: Tue, 9:00pm—12:00pm &
6/18/10: Fri, 12:25pm—3:25pm

Hi everybody,

There were some exceptional drawings in class this week. Nice work to all of you who came to class and put forth a good effort. I would love to see you all keep up that kind of progress and energy.

I think you all worked hard this week in class and did quite well with your drawing; however, I am concerned at how much work some of you have to do for next week. Below is a list of exactly what you should have for me.

Regarding homework for this week and the MIDTERM: Please read ALL the instructions as to what to do for next week's class. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me.

  1. Remember, next week is midterm and so ALL your work is due.
  2. You must give me your sketchbooks next week. Even if you have missed class, you are still responsible for ALL WORK.
  3. You must give me ALL your files for this class. This means that you must have your USB DRIVES with all of the COMPUTER DRAWINGS that we have done both in class and for homework.
  4. This includes ALL files you've already given me in class. I'll repeat: ALL OF THE WORK UP TO NEXT WEEK IS DUE, BOTH CLASSWORK AND HOMEWORK, INCLUDING THE INTRO EXERCISES THAT WE DO AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS EACH WEEK. You must give me those files AGAIN

MIDTERM:
  1. Portfolio Requirements:
  2. 23 Hand-drawings/ 13 Illustrator drawings

Summer 2010

WEEK 5 :
6/09/10: Tue, 9:00pm—12:00pm &
6/11/10: Fri, 12:25pm—3:25pm

Hi everybody,

I hope you all have had a nice week off from drawing homework, and that your holiday yesterday (Monday) was a nice break.

Many of you, and you all know who you are, have done little or no work outside of class. If you continue this even one more week, it is very likely you will have a failing grade at midterm, and it will be more and more difficult for you to improve that as each week goes by.

Therefore, it is time to get to work and to start drawing a little each day. If you want to save time, please pay attention to how much time I suggest you take on each exercise. At the top of each page you download, it suggests a time limit. Try to follow those time constraints. If it says 30min, that means you should draw rather quickly so that you can finish THE WHOLE THING in that amount of time. If it says 1hour, then you have more time to complete it and can draw more slowly.

Remember, it matters less how good it is to you, than how much time and effort you put out each week. Many of you spend quite a bit more than I suggest. Of course, it is up to you how much time you spend on drawing. The more time you spend, the more you will learn and undoubtedly the higher your grade. However, this is not required.

If you haven't done so, please bring $3.00 to class next week so that I can distribute the plastic picture planes to those of you who do not have one yet. Furthermore, please have your DRY-ERASE markers as well, so you will be able to work with your planes.
